Building Forward: Economic Diversification Strategy

Building a Stronger, More Resilient Future for Tumbler Ridge

The District of Tumbler Ridge has adopted Building Forward: Economic Diversification Strategy, a long-term framework to guide economic development, strengthen community resilience, and support new opportunities for residents, businesses, and industry.

Tumbler Ridge has a proud history rooted in the mining industry, which continues to play a foundational role in our local economy. This strategy recognizes that strength while identifying opportunities to build additional economic pillars that will support the community's long-term growth and stability.

A Community-Driven Strategy

Developed in partnership with Lochaven Consulting, the strategy reflects extensive research, collaboration, and engagement with local businesses, residents, community organizations, industry partners, District staff, and Council.

The feedback and perspectives gathered throughout the process helped shape a strategy that reflects the community's strengths, challenges, and aspirations for the future.

More than 260 people contributed to developing the strategy through community surveys, interviews, business walks, workshops, and other engagement opportunities. This input helped shape a strategy that reflects Tumbler Ridge's unique strengths, challenges, and opportunities.
