Emergency Support Services

Emergency Support Services (ESS) is a provincial program delivered by local government to support residents by providing short-term basic assistance to people impacted by natural disasters.  Locally, Tumbler Ridge ESS members are community volunteers who receive training through Emergency Management BC (EMBC) sponsored courses

During an emergency event, ESS may also be offered to an evacuee for a short period of time however, supports provided to those eligible are determined by a case-by-case basis. Typically support is provided for up to 72 hours from the time of the incident however, some services may be available for an extended period depending on the type of emergency and the circumstances of an evacuation.

Primary services provided by ESS include temporary lodging, food, clothing, and incidentals (such as toiletries) More specialized services that may be provided include emotional support, health services (such as first aid), pet care, family reunification and transportation

Tumbler Ridge ESS is always looking for new members to help those in need.  Please fill out our application and submit it to the ESS Director, Dustin Curry, by email or phone (250) 242-3939 for more information.
